without volunteers haddington concert society would not exist

Haddington Concert Society is a non-profit organization run by a committee of volunteers. The committee is responsible for organising and publicising the concerts, managing the performers, arranging hire of the venue, looking after our Bösendorfer, meeting the requirements of OSCR (the Scottish charities regulator) and submitting accounts to them, and applying for an annual grant from Chamber Music Scotland. The tasks needed to put on at least 6 concerts a year (plus a summer programme in some years) fall to this very small group. We are actively looking for people to help share the load: volunteer friends of the society, ie, hands-on helpers without any of the responsibilities of committee members.
There are many practical tasks for which additional help would ease the burden on the committee, among them:
• putting up posters
• meeting the musicians if travelling by train or plane
• opening and closing the venue
• looking after the performers at the venue
• accommodating performers
• selling tickets and programmes at the concerts
• writing reviews
All would be of enormous help, would take very little time each month, and (particularly, getting to know the musicians while giving them transport or accommodation) be interesting and rewarding. We would very much appreciate hearing from you if you would like to help. Without further practical support, the Society will simply not be able to continue bringing an exciting programme of chamber music to East Lothian each year.
