THE TOWN HOUSE
Haddington’s Georgian Town House, which sits at the head of the town’s two main streets, was built in 1748 according to a plan by William Adam. When first built, it held a council chamber, jail, and sheriff court, to which assembly rooms were added in 1788, and a new clock in 1835. It was our home for many years until its closure during the pandemic, after which it has not reopened.
